Your initial session is 60 minutes in duration, during which we discuss your current symptoms and your body’s trauma history. At that time, we will assess your body for fascial restrictions in the connective tissue and identify bracing and holding patterns that may be pulling your body out of its natural balanced alignment.
Women are treated in a sports bra and underwear or a tank top and loose shorts. Men are treated in loose shorts or underwear. Treatment is performed on a comfortable massage table but may also include upright positions or movement-based releases. Please do not wear body lotion or perfume to your session.
JFB-MFR includes sustained pressure into restrictions within the connective tissue; therefore, no lotions or oils are used with this approach.
The most common question is: How many visits will it take for relief?
The number of visits varies from client to client. JFB-MFR is an individualized, whole-body approach. Each body is unique and has its own history of trauma. Every person arrives with different stress levels, body awareness, and ability to connect and remain present during treatment. Some clients experience immediate relief, while others may need multiple sessions. During your session, the therapist will also teach self-treatment techniques to help extend the benefits of the work completed during treatment.

Myofascial Release is a safe and highly effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle, sustained pressure into myofascial muscle and connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.
Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures can create myofascial restrictions that may produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain-sensitive structures. These restrictions often do not appear in many standard tests, such as X-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, or electromyography.
The use of Myofascial Release allows us to treat each client as a unique individual. Our one-on-one therapy sessions are hands-on treatments during which therapists use a variety of Myofascial Release techniques and movement therapy.
We promote independence through education in proper body mechanics and movement, self-treatment instruction, enhanced strength, improved flexibility, and greater postural and movement awareness.
Each Myofascial Release treatment session is performed directly on the skin without oils, creams, or machinery. This enables the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia.

Fascia is a specialized system of the body that has an appearance similar to a spider’s web or a sweater. Fascia is very densely woven, covering and interpenetrating every muscle, bone, nerve, artery, and vein, as well as all internal organs, including the heart, lungs, brain, and spinal cord.
The most interesting aspect of the fascial system is that it is not just a system of separate coverings—it is actually one continuous structure that exists from head to toe without interruption. In this way, each part of the body is connected to every other part by fascia, much like the yarn in a sweater.
With a combination of gentle, sustained pressure and stretching, the fascia can be loosened, and lengthened, and restrictions can be released to help decrease pain and improve flexibility.
The therapist will work on different areas of the body, sometimes close to and sometimes far from the painful area, to determine where the restrictions are located.
